Insurance Investments Claims About us Resource centre

Our co-operative values inspire a unique insurance experience: one that is people-oriented, fair and honest. To help explain how we connect our co-operative values to client service every day, we created a video called It’s in our name.

Back in 1945, Co-operators was founded by a group of farmers who decided to work together to ensure everyone’s success. To this day, our business decisions are guided by our co-operative principles: to balance the need for profitability with our commitment to serving members and operating in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.

Co-operatives give members a meaningful voice in directing the organization. We apply that value in our Service Review Panels, which are made up of volunteer clients who get together to talk about client issues once they’ve been through our regular review process. If they decide that the outcome needs to change, we follow their decision. Any recommendations they make affect only Co-operators; for the client, the result will either stay the same or change for the better. To give even more voice to communities across Canada, we also have Community Advisory Panels to provide input on our strategy, products and community programs.
