Keep your outdoor pets safe
Bring your pets inside during cold weather or provide borrowed heat to a pet’s shelter.
- Avoid using heat lamps, solar lamps, trouble lights and heated watering bowls to heat your pet’s outdoor shelter.
- Consider using borrowed heat which provides warmth from a heating system that is located in a separate building.
- Heated air or piped water is transferred to the area requiring heat. For example, running a warm water or air supply from the house will send warmed air to the pet’s outdoor shelter. Caution: exposed piping can still be subject to chewing, leading to water damage and/or failure of hot water heating systems.
- Portable electrical heating systems or temporary installations are subject to damage and/or failure, contributing to fires.
