Aayaz Pira

Aayaz is responsible for the overall strategy, development, and execution of Co-operators Technology function. His work aligns the technological vision to Co-operators business objectives and strategic plan, focusing on modernizing the technology, digital and data strategy to create competitive differentiation.

Aayaz’s successes include implementing new technology and digital platforms that led to significant increases in revenue and customer acquisition, building and operating direct banking businesses and driving digital banking innovations that earned industry recognition including “Top Mobile Bank in Canada” by JD Power and “Top Consumer Digital Bank in North America” by Consumer Finance.

Aayaz was recognized as the “Digital Banker of the Year” by American Banker and awarded the Ted Rogers School of Management Alumni Trailblazer award for his contribution to the school and community, as well as the G. Raymond Chang Outstanding Volunteer award from Ryerson University. He currently sits on several boards, including North York General Hospital, Ted Rogers School of Management’s MBA Program and the investment committee of the Aga Khan Museum.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Information Technology from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU, formerly Ryerson University) and an MBA from Queen’s University.
