Colette Taylor

Colette is responsible for all business and executional operations at Sovereign Insurance – a purpose-built insurance provider that helps build resilient Canadian businesses, and strengthen the communities they serve. Driving the company’s growth, she works closely with the Co-operators senior-management team to deliver on its strategic plan.

Colette’s focus on innovation, efficiency and informed underwriting has helped to streamline operations, foster a collaborative and seamless experience for brokers and partners, and support overall profitability.

Colette is an advocate for equal representation and advancement across the industry: she leads Sovereign’s Community Impact strategy, which champions diversity, equity and inclusion within the P&C insurance space; she helped to establish Sovereign’s partnership with the Canadian Association of Black Insurance Professionals (CABIP); and, as a member of ISC Group, she supports efforts that increase the membership of women in senior-leadership positions. In addition, she has been an involved speaker/panellist at Insurance Business Canada’s (IBC) “Women in Insurance” Summit, where she has spoken on topics ranging from mental health to self-care.

Colette has been in the P&C insurance industry for more than 20 years in a variety of roles. She has led front-line commercial underwriting teams, managed strategic broker relationships, and spent time during her career as a broker working directly with commercial end-clients.
