Laura oversees all facets of people practices – talent acquisition and performance management, business restructuring and organizational alignment, employee wellness and total rewards – to advance Co-operators culture and values. With a focus on building workforce capability, from creating the necessary roles to nurturing an efficient hybrid work model, she also guides the organization in making the right HR investments to drive its strategy forward.

Laura has successfully driven employee engagement through the Enhancing Capabilities Program, designed to build the skills and prioritize the well-being of employees; the High-Performance Co-operative Program, a competency model that empowers employees to shine in their own ways; and IDEA, an internal initiative that fosters a culture of inclusivity, diversity, equity and accessibility.

Laura is a member of the Conference Board of Canada HR Executive Leaders council, a former board member for the Human Resources Professional Society, as well as a mentor with GEM, an organization that’s committed to youth education, promoting gender equity and working with diverse communities. She was instrumental in the 2022 Canadian Mental Health Association – Ensuring Our Future campaign, where mental-health champions from the insurance industry added their voices in support of youth mental health.

She has an M.Sc. in Education, has completed the Advanced Program in Human Resource Management, and has obtained a Chartered Director designation, from McMaster University.
