Meet the 2024 Co-operators Young Leaders

The Co-operators Young Leaders Award celebrates the next generation of innovators in the Canadian co-operative and mutuals sector. These 11 talented, passionate and innovative young leaders from across Canada will participate in a yearlong leadership academy.

Amanda Richard

Federated Co-operatives Limited, SK

Amanda is a Retail Operations Specialist, helping to analyze data for the convenience store team to enable improved work processes and efficiencies. She also volunteers on the Environmental Sustainability Team supporting staff engagement within the sustainability strategy. Outside of work, Amanda enjoys travelling, reading, working out, and golfing in the summer months.

Bianca Rocha

Libro Credit Union, ON

Bianca is a Purpose Integration Specialist responsible for the development of climate change strategy at Libro Credit Union. She has a Masters of Climate Change from the University of Waterloo and is passionate about a just climate transition and the role the financial sector can play in fighting climate change. In her free time, she enjoys nature, reading or creating something.

Caeli Martineau

Edgar Co-op, QC

Caeli has a bachelor’s degree in French-to-English Translation from Concordia University. As the Director, Client Relations, she builds connections with current and potential clients and diversifies services to cater to industry needs. She is passionate about the successful co-operative takeover of Edgar Co-op. Caeli is an avid traveller, exploring new cultures and local delicacies.

Jason Rivest

Coopsco Trois-Rivières, QC

Jason has been involved in the co-operative and mutual sector since 2009 and holds a master’s degree in business administration. He founded the start-up of a solidarity co-op supporting historians in the realization of historical contracts and is involved in governance within CQCM and COOPSCO bookstores. Jason has received recognition for his impact, including Canada's Volunteer Awards.

Kyle Osmond

Provincial Credit Union, PE

As Manager of Core Banking, Kyle leads a pivotal department and embraces a key leadership role within Provincial Credit Union. Kyle is a proud graduate from the University of Prince Edward Island and holds the Associate of the Credit Union Institute of Canada (ACUIC) management designation. He is also on the Board of Directors of Camp Gencheff, a non-profit organization.

Lacey Chyz

Self Help and Solidarity, AB

Lacey is a co-op educator and developer who helps people discover, understand, and embrace the co-op difference. She operates Self Help and Solidarity – a consultancy that works with established Canadian co-ops and community leaders who are new to the co-op sector. Lacey is on the Board of Directors for Sangudo Opportunity Development Co-operative, Lakeland Credit Union, and Coop Zone.

MacK Parman

Eadha Bakery, MB

MacK is a baker, worker member and secretary of the board at Eadha Bakery Worker Co-op. They are passionate about creating community, with good food and good people. They believe in creating business ownership and safe workspaces for marginalized folx through co-operatives. MacK is also a crochet fibre artist, creating fun, unique, one-of-a-kind items. MacK is queer, non-binary and trans.

Paolo Mirriello

Coop de solidarité Pivot, QC

Paolo is a PhD candidate in business administration at Université du Québec à Montréal. He is co-founder of Coop de solidarité Pivot, a French-language independent news media outlet with a progressive perspective on politics, social movements and the environment. He has worked in the co-operative sector as a volunteer, occupying the role of administrator, treasurer, web developer and more.

Rebecca Petrowski

Access Credit Union, MB

Rebecca is Supervisor of Business Loan Administration and sits as a member on the Emerging Leaders Committee, working on projects to bring development opportunities to emerging leaders at the credit union. Rebecca looks forward to completing her Certificate in Management and Administration through University of Manitoba. She enjoys cooking vegan food, gardening, and spending time outside.

Roger Land

Federated Co-operatives Limited, SK

As Sr. Marketing Specialist, Roger leads the development and execution of marketing programs and strategic initiatives for Home and Building Solutions. He oversees the private label product development and product recall programs. Roger has received formal business education through Red River College, Canadian Institute of Management and Co-operatives First.

Roseline Roy

Sollio Groupe Coopératif, QC

Roseline Roy is a lawyer whose practice focuses on board governance, ethics, business and cooperative law. She works as a Governance and Ethics Advisor for Sollio Cooperative Group and as a corporate secretary of some instance of its network. She is a member of the Quebec Bar, holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the Université Laval and a master’s degree in law from the Université de Montréal.
