Sonya Hulgan

Sonya began her career with Co-operators in 2009 when she joined Croissant Insurance Services as an Associate Insurance Advisor, specializing in home and auto insurance at the Moose Jaw location. In 2010, she obtained her Life Insurance Licence and evolved into the role of Associate Financial Advisor, finding her niche. Her charismatic personality, determination and extensive product knowledge allow her to tailor comprehensive and inclusive coverage best suited to protect her clients and their loved ones – a genuine desire to help is the pivotal reason behind her success.

In October 2016, Sonya became the agency owner of the Moose Jaw and Assiniboia Co-operators locations, transitioning into the role of Insurance/Financial Advisor and owner. She coaches and mentors her talented team of associates by imparting her expertise and best practices, with a focus on the individual needs of clients. 

In 2020, Sonya earned her Qualified Associate Financial Planner (QAFP) certification, as well her Mutual Fund Licence. In addition to her many other hats, she now specializes in assisting our clients with holistic financial planning solutions.

Throughout her career, Sonya has been recognized for her hard work and dedication to her clients. Sonya was nominated for a PRISM Award through the Business Women of Moose Jaw, including her accomplishments in their celebration of local women in leadership and business. 

After completing high school, she and her husband, both Moose Javians, moved to Ontario for a few years before deciding to return to their hometown to be closer to family. They now have two sons and a Basset Hound, proudly calling Moose Jaw their home. When not working, Sonya can be found on the football field cheering on her favourite players.

Ashley Ambrose

Client Support Representative

Ashley has a long history of working in insurance. In her early career, she worked in our agency as a Commercial and Farm Specialist where she built a solid foundation in risk management and coverage solutions. After taking a hiatus to build her own business, she returned to the agency in 2024. As a Client Service Representative, she currently reaches out to clients in both the Moose Jaw and Assiniboia offices regarding renewals and other services, acting as a liaison that bridges clients with their advisors.

Even with her broad skill set in business administration, insurance, construction and education contributing to a well-rounded, practical approach to situations, Ashley’s number one priority remains exceptional client service. Not only is her attention to detail phenomenal, she is also personable and professional, lending to effortless interactions with both clients and co-workers. She definitely earns the title of being a “people person”. Ashley is currently working on obtaining her LLQP to assist clients with their life insurance and investment needs.

The outdoors is where Ashley finds her peace – whether she’s hiking on a trail or paddling out in the canoe whenever she can. She is fun, laughs easily and values spending time with friends and family, including her pup, Molly. To her, life is about good company, fresh air and connecting in a relaxed, down-to-earth way.

Carla Auchstaetter

Associate Insurance Advisor I

Carla was hired in August 2023. Before joining our team, Carla worked in a customer service role for a co-operative. Through her experience, she is comfortable dealing with a wide range of clients in a dynamic environment. She is cheerful and bubbly and, as the front-line in our Assiniboia office, you will experience her friendly personality whether you come into the office or call on the phone.

The desire to help is the driving force behind Carla’s work ethic – she really is ready to go above and beyond for our clients, as well as for her co-workers. She has a thirst for knowledge and is a quick learner with a keen eye for detail. Carla is Level 1 licensed and takes care of the home and auto portfolio in Assiniboia. 

Carla is small-town girl, born and raised in Assiniboia and her values are centred around family. Not straying too far from her hometown roots, Carla lives in Assiniboia with her husband and their adorable pup, Loki. She loves to read, favouring historical fiction and fantasy novels, but is willing to read just about anything that is recommended to her.

Krista Glova

Associate Insurance Advisor

Krista was recruited to Co-operators in November 2019. She has an extensive customer service, sales and entrepreneurial background, with experience in the retail, agricultural and financial sectors. Krista’s strong work ethic, coupled with her farming and business knowledge, strengthen her ability to understand the challenges that agri-producers face daily. 

Krista holds a Saskatchewan Level 3 General Insurance Licence. While she specializes in assisting our business and farm clients, she also provides service to our home, auto and travel clients. 

Born and raised in Moose Jaw, Krista is a familiar face in the community. Whether you grew up with her, know her from her time as a downtown business owner or spent time with her at the rink or the dance studio, you'll remember her for her infectious smile and friendly manner.

Lisa Martin

Associate Insurance Advisor II

Lisa was recruited to our team in December 2019. Drawing on her previous experience in client support, marketing, management and administration in the agricultural, manufacturing, technology and real estate sectors, she brought plenty of knowledge to merge into the world of insurance. Prior to joining Co-operators, Lisa worked as a parts person at a local implement dealership and her agricultural equipment knowledge is a definite asset when assisting our clients. 

Lisa is a creative problem solver, who looks for the best overall outcome while remaining focused on individual needs. She has a flair for injecting a little humour when the situation calls for it. Lisa has completed all four levels of Canadian Accredited Insurance Brokers (CAIB) training and holds a Saskatchewan General Insurance Level 3 Licence. She specializes in farm, business and non-profit lines and is also able to provide service to all our property and casualty clients.  

Community is important to Lisa. She's passionate about volunteering, a value instilled by her parents when she was growing up in Gravelbourg. She is an executive member of the Kinette Club of Assiniboia and has served as social media manager for Telemiracle 42 through 46. She holds a Professional Cooking diploma and is always creating and testing wonderful recipes for her family and co-workers to enjoy.

Susan Umana

Associate Insurance Advisor

Susan was hired in June 2025. Based in our Moose Jaw location, her warm, friendly smile will greet you as soon as you step inside the door. After spending several years working in the education and childcare fields, she decided to jump back into the world of insurance and investments, where she had worked before starting her family.

Being forthright, Susan values honesty and sincerity, not afraid to ask questions to pinpoint the most effective approach to any situation. Her eagerness to continue learning has allowed her to obtain her Saskatchewan General Level 1 licence with plans of pursuing additional levels in the future. She currently assists our Moose Jaw clients with their home, auto and travel insurance needs.

Susan is all about family, recognizing that everyday together is a blessing and her number one priority. She and her husband enjoy spending time with their children, whether that means cheering on their daughters who play competitive hockey or watching their son practice his gaming. When she’s not busy being a super mom, she loves being at home, cooking, baking or watching episodes of Supernatural, her favourite show!
