Sanofi Survey reports plan satisfaction on the rise

The annual Sanofi Survey determines the effectiveness of Canada’s employer-sponsored benefit plans. Here are this year’s highlights.

Respondents from across Canada included approximately 1,500 plan members and 502 plan sponsors.

More employees are satisfied with their benefit plans

  • Fifty-eight per cent of plan members describe their benefits plan as excellent or very good, up 10% from last year.
  • Employees also report that the quality of their benefits plan makes them think more positively of their employers.
  • Coverage for routine products and services were valued the most.

Drug plans remain popular

  • Eighty-five percent of plan members used their drug plan at least once in the past year, and the same proportion used their dental plan at least once.
  • Just over half submitted at least one claim for a paramedical service such as massage therapy or psychotherapy.
  • On average last year, those who submitted claims had an average of 9.4 prescription drug claims and 4.4 dental claims.
  • Plan members with at least one chronic disease also use their drug plan more often (10.9 claims).
  • Notably, plan members who describe their personal financial health as poor also submitted more drug claims.
