Improved Critical Illness coverage

Critical Illness coverage is an affordable way for your clients to offer their plan members the financial support they need when diagnosed with a serious illness. Plan members choose how they use their funds: to pay for medical treatment, to modify their homes or to cover everyday expenses.

In addition to our current guaranteed issue coverage, which is a simple, easy-to-administer plan without proof of good health, we will soon offer an enhanced plan option. This will allow coverage to be increased beyond the guaranteed issue plan maximum. Proof of good health is required.

Plans will include an increased number of covered conditions. There are 25 full benefit conditions and six partial benefit conditions.

Three NEW product options

In addition to the enhancements to our original Critical Illness product, we’re adding three new Critical Illness product options for plan sponsors to choose from:

  • Dependent Critical Illness
  • Optional Critical Illness
  • Dependent Optional Critical Illness

NEW plan design features

With our new plan design features, plan sponsors will be able to customize coverage for their plan members by choosing from many value-added benefits:

  • Option to add Multiple Event Benefit: This provides protection in the event of multiple illnesses, including cancer recurrence
  • Option to reduce or eliminate the pre-existing condition limitation period
  • Option to convert: This allows plan members and their spouse the opportunity to continue critical illness coverage under an individual policy
  • Option to increase termination age up to age 75

Note: Coverage levels and plan design options vary by group size. Talk to your Co‑operators representative for more details.

Tell them about Second Opinion Consult

Talk to your plan sponsors about adding Second Opinion Consult for a complete benefits offering. If diagnosed with a serious illness, plan members will receive a second opinion assessment from medical specialists at top North American hospitals. The assessment report will confirm or modify the diagnosis and suggest appropriate treatment options.
