Help your new hires get access to your group plan as soon as possible by taking care of these simple administrative tasks.

Avoid late applicants

Remember to complete and submit a Plan Member Enrolment Form on the employee’s first day of work. Employees must be enrolled in your group benefit plan within 31 days of becoming eligible for coverage.

Anyone enrolled past 31 days of becoming eligible will be considered a late applicant and must provide proof that they are in good health.

If you want to waive the late applicant status, include the plan member enrolment form with your request to waive before initiating the medical underwriting process.

Need to waive the waiting period?

Enrol plan members in group benefit coverage as soon as they’re hired, even if they need to serve the waiting period outlined in your policy. If the plan member is not actively at work on the date the coverage is effective, the coverage will be in force on the date they return to work.

There may be rare instances where plan sponsors can request to waive the waiting period, such as terms of employment contracts. In this case, submit the Application to Waive Waiting Period form with the request to waive the waiting period within 31 days of hire.
