Volunteers in Action

The Co-operators has a rich history of giving back to our communities through volunteer time or financial contributions. Whether they work in soup kitchens or fire departments, volunteers strengthen the fabric of Canadian society.

Volunteers in Action is a group of passionate Co-operators employees who meet regularly to help out people in their communities. Started at our Calgary office in 2002, there are now active groups throughout many of our member companies.

Each group is employee driven and strives to bring volunteer opportunities to the larger employee group in their area. Meeting on a regular basis, these groups have a profound impact on the success of many community programs and organizations. All employees are free to attend these meetings to learn more about how they can support their community through volunteerism, or to bring new ideas to the group. All of our companies subsidize one or two days per year for staff members to volunteer in their community.

It isn’t just our employees that we encourage to volunteer. If you want to get involved with any cause, visit Volunteer Canada’s website to get started, or contact your favourite organization directly. To find out more about our program, get in touch with us at community@cooperators.ca.
