Sustainability has always been an integral part of The Co‑operators success. Founded in 1945 as a co-operative, The Co‑operators is committed to organizing and operating the organization in accordance with sustainable principles.  

Sustainability consists of what is usually referred to as the triple bottom line, meaning the economic, social and environmental sustainability of a company.  For The Co-operators, the triple bottom line is broken down even further, into five distinct categories:  Economic Performance; Governance; Stakeholder Relations; Socio-Economic Contribution; and Environmental Practices.
