Block Parent® Program of Canada

Since 2001, The Co-operators has been the only corporate national sponsor of the Block Parent® Program of Canada. Block Parent® is a natural fit for us as a national organization that shares our desire to make our communities safer and dedication to volunteerism. As the national sponsor, we work with both the national Block Parent® Program to produce promotional and educational materials and with local Block Parent® chapters.

Block Parents®

A Block Parent® sign means a safe house for community members to go to in times of distress. The mandate of the program is to have one Block Parent® sign hanging in a window in every community. Block Parents® are security screened and trained to handle emergencies. If you want to be a Block Parent®, you can read more about the program and sign up on the Block Parent® Program of Canada.

Business Block Parents®

In an effort to expand its safety net, the Block Parent® Program of Canada launched its Business program in 2001. Business Block Parents® assist people in need during regular business hours. Participating businesses, such as some Co-operators agent offices, feature a decal in their windows with the widely recognized Block Parent® logo. Download the Business Block Parent® manual to review the criteria and sign up to become a Business Block Parent® by contacting the Block Parent® Program of Canada.
